Successful Conclusion of Two-day National Seminar on “Viksit Bharat 2047” at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study

The two-day National Seminar on “Viksit Bharat 2047: Challenges and Opportunities” organized at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Nivas, Shimla, concluded successfully today. The seminar was held on April 27 and 28, 2026, at Siddharth Vihar, with participation from academicians, policy experts, and researchers from various parts of the country.

The seminar aimed to deliberate upon various dimensions of inclusive, sustainable, and multidisciplinary development in the context of the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. In the inaugural session, the Convener of the seminar and Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner, Prof. Manoj Dixit, presented the conceptual framework of the theme. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. R. K. Mishra of the University of Lucknow, who discussed the challenges and opportunities in India’s development trajectory. The session was presided over by the Director of the Institute, Prof. Himanshu Kumar Chaturvedi, who described Viksit Bharat 2047 as a comprehensive national resolve.

Over the two days, various sessions witnessed in-depth deliberations on different dimensions of the concept of Viksit Bharat. The sessions on the first day focused on themes such as “The Basic Concept of Viksit Bharat: The Prime Minister’s Vision” and “India’s Economy and Future.” Distinguished speakers including Prof. Neerja Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad; Prof. Manoj Borkar, Carmel College for Women, Goa; Prof. Pankaj Gupta, OP Jindal Global University; and Prof. P. S. Manhas, Director, Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), Delhi, among others, shared their insights.

The sessions on the second day included discussions on “Policy and Administration,” “The Traditional Indian Perspective on Development,” and “The Comprehensive Vision of Viksit Bharat.” Speakers such as Prof. Manoj Dixit, Vice Chancellor, MGSU Bikaner; Dr. Rajesh Vyas from Raj Bhawan, Rajasthan, Jaipur; Prof. Vivekanand Tiwari of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla; along with experts from the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, University of Delhi, and other reputed institutions, contributed significantly to the deliberations.

In the valedictory session, the Convener of the seminar, Prof. Manoj Dixit, presented a detailed report summarizing the key discussions and recommendations emerging from the two-day proceedings. Thereafter, Prof. Sushma Yadav, Former Vice Chancellor, BPS Women University, Haryana, delivered the valedictory address, emphasizing that the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 can be achieved not only through policy interventions but also through education, innovation, and institutional strengthening. The valedictory session was moderated by Public Relations Officer Dr. Akhilesh Pathak.

The deliberations during the seminar clearly highlighted that the realization of Viksit Bharat requires a multidisciplinary approach, coordinated policy-making, and active participation from all sections of society. The discussions provided meaningful directions and actionable insights towards achieving this national goal.

The seminar proved to be an effective platform for academicians and experts from across the country to share their experiences and research-based perspectives, contributing constructively towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
