President Murmu’s Six-Day Visit to Himachal: A Blend of Tradition, Development, and Warmth

President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a six-day visit to Himachal Pradesh starting April 27. Her itinerary reflects both the cultural richness and strategic importance of the hill state.

She will arrive in Shimla and stay at the historic ‘Retreat’ in Charabra, the President’s summer residence nestled in the serene hills. Over the course of her visit, she will travel to Palampur and Lahaul-Spiti, bringing national attention to these regions.

On April 29, the President will tour the Rohtang Atal Tunnel in Manali, a marvel of engineering that ensures year-round connectivity to Lahaul. Two days later, she will grace the Convocation of Palampur Agriculture University as the chief guest, highlighting the importance of agricultural education in the state. She will also attend a key event at the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla, underscoring her engagement with the nation’s defense institutions.

During her stay in Shimla, President Murmu is expected to host an ‘At Home’ gathering for dignitaries including the Governor, Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs, and other officials—an occasion that blends formality with warmth.

The state government is making elaborate arrangements for her visit, with heightened security at all venues. Since her trip coincides with the peak tourist season, authorities are working to minimize inconvenience to the public while ensuring smooth movement.

President Murmu will conclude her Himachal sojourn on May 2, returning to Delhi after a visit that promises to leave a lasting impression on the state’s people and institutions.
