Koti college new building – A leap towards better education for locals: Dr Tanwar

Koti College marked a historic day with the inauguration of its newly constructed building, an achievement that symbolizes years of hard work and collective efforts by the local community. The event saw the presence of the Honorable Chief Minister, the Education Minister, and several MLAs and Ministers, making it a truly special occasion for the region.

A Milestone for Education in the Hills

Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, a respected educationist and advocate for rural development, congratulated the people of Koti on this remarkable accomplishment. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the potential this new building holds for transforming the educational landscape of the area.

Nestled amidst picturesque and historic tourist destinations like Kufri, Koti, and Chail, Koti College serves as a beacon of hope for rural youth. Many families in the region rely on tourism-related businesses such as homestays, photography, guiding, and travel services for their livelihood. However, Dr. Tanwar emphasized the need to professionalize these ventures to unlock better job opportunities for the youth.

A New Era of Skill-Based Education

Dr. Tanwar drew attention to the state government’s recent announcement to introduce Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) courses in 16 colleges, focusing on Tourism and Hospitality. Given its location and relevance, Koti College is ideally suited to host this program. If implemented here, it could provide employment opportunities for hundreds of families in Kufri, Koti-Junga, and Chail, creating a sustainable future for the youth.

Looking Beyond the Building: What’s Next for Koti College?

While the new building is a significant milestone, Dr. Tanwar reminded the community that the journey is far from over. To truly empower the youth and make Koti College a hub for education and employment, more steps need to be taken:

  1. Introducing More Streams: The college should expand its offerings to include subjects like Science, Geography, and Vocal Music, while nearby Plus Two schools must offer Science and Commerce to give students more career options.
  2. Creating a Knowledge Hub: Establishing a public library within the college to help students prepare for competitive exams and higher education.
  3. Improved Transport: Aligning government bus schedules with college timings to make commuting easier for students.

A Call to Action

Dr. Tanwar urged the local community—parents, Panchayat representatives, and youth—to seize this moment and demand a complete education system for the region. He appealed to the Chief Minister to announce the launch of the B.Voc (Tourism & Hospitality) course at Koti College, a step that could revolutionize the area by increasing student enrollment and opening doors to countless job opportunities.

“This college is the result of years of struggle—first to establish it, then to build it, and now to see it flourish. If we want a brighter future for our children, our work must continue,” he said.

Building Dreams, Together

The inauguration of the new building is not just a celebration; it’s a stepping stone towards realizing the full potential of Koti College. With the collective efforts of the government, community, and educators, Koti College can truly transform into a hub of education, skills, and opportunities for generations to come.
