Shimla MC Ensures Cleanliness Amid Strike with Identification of 229 Temporary Garbage Collection Points

Amid the ongoing strike by sanitation workers, the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) has stepped up its efforts to keep the city clean by setting up special garbage collection points across all 34 wards.

To ensure that daily sanitation services are not disrupted, the corporation has established 229 designated collection spots throughout the town. Residents have been requested to bring their household waste to these points, from where municipal vehicles will collect and dispose of it.

Highlighting the arrangements, Joint Commissioner Bhuwan Sharma said that garbage collection vehicles will remain stationed at these points until 10 am every day, making it easier for residents to dispose of their waste. He assured that maintaining cleanliness in the city remains the top priority of the corporation, even during challenging times.

At the same time, Mayor Surender Chauhan, who recently joined hands-on efforts to clear garbage himself, said that the corporation is further strengthening its response. From Monday onwards, more vehicles and additional workers will be deployed to improve waste collection services across the city.

The Mayor stressed that there will be no compromise on cleanliness in the state capital, despite the ongoing disruption caused by the strike.

With these temporary measures in place, the administration hopes to manage the situation effectively until normal sanitation services are restored, while urging residents to cooperate by using the designated collection points responsibly.
