Numberdars will cooperate in making Junga Tehsil chitta free

The meeting of the Numberdar Welfare Association, Tehsil Junga, was held on Sunday at Janedghat under the chairmanship of President Ramakrishna Rana. All the numberdars working in the Junga Tehsil participated. The meeting unanimously resolved to make Himachal free of chitta.
Ramakrishna Rana stated that the Numberdar Welfare Association will fully cooperate with the administration and police in the government’s campaign to free the drug industry. He explained that while the use of drugs has decreased significantly in rural areas, the youth are increasingly involved in various forms of drug abuse, including alcohol, hashish, gutkha, tobacco, and other forms of addiction. He stated that meetings will be held at the village level to wean the youth in the Junga region from drug addiction, in which those involved, especially the youth, will be informed about the harmful effects of drug abuse on their health, thereby strengthening the foundation of a drug-free society.
The Chairman demanded that the services of the area’s numberdars be utilized for revenue-related matters. In the absence of a numberdar, the services of the local Panchayat or a specific individual should be sought. He stated that numberdars have been assisting the revenue department in matters of revenue for centuries, a practice that dates back to the princely era. He urged the Revenue Department to also utilize the services of numberdars for revenue-related tasks, such as field demarcation and division.
He expressed gratitude to the government for increasing the honorarium of numberdars annually. Various issues were discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Numberdar Welfare Association Satish Kumar, Vishwanand Thakur, Rajendra Thakur, Naresh Thakur, Kamal Thakur, Devendra Thakur, Om Swaroop Sharma, Premdutt Sharma, Suresh Thakur, Gopal Sharma and Jagmohan Singh.
