Indora Utsav: A Celebration of Culture, Unity, and Social Awareness
The vibrant two-day Indora Utsav began on a high note with Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Prof. Chandra Kumar inaugurating the festival by offering prayers at the historic Kathgarh Mahadev temple. Organized by the Indora Assembly Welfare and Development Society, the festival aims to revive the cultural pride of the region while promoting social awareness.
MLA Malendra Rajan extended a warm welcome to the Agriculture Minister with shawls and souvenirs, marking the ceremonial start of the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Chandra Kumar highlighted the importance of festivals in preserving cultural heritage and fostering a sense of community. “Celebrations bring joy, connect us to our roots, and keep traditions and folk arts alive. They also play a significant role in promoting tourism, local businesses, and industries,” he remarked.
The festival also serves as a platform for local talent to shine. MLA Malendra Rajan commended the initiative, emphasizing its role in empowering youth and addressing pressing issues such as drug addiction. “The Indora Utsav is not just a celebration but a mission to awaken our youth against drugs. Through this festival and other welfare activities, we aim to give the youth of Indora opportunities to showcase their talent and build a brighter future,” Rajan said.
Highlights of Day One
The event began with a marathon flagged off by the Agriculture Minister to raise awareness against drug abuse. The festival also featured an exhibition showcasing products by self-help groups, women’s circles, and various departments. A blood donation camp was inaugurated to promote social responsibility.
The evening came alive with mesmerizing performances. Renowned Punjabi Sufi singer Satinder Sartaj captivated the audience with his soulful music, while local artists set the stage with spirited performances of hill and Punjabi songs. The crowd swayed to the tunes, celebrating the unity and cultural richness of the region.

The event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including Vishal Chambiyal, Vice President of the Industrial Development Corporation, District Council Member Praveen Kumar, and SP Ashok Ratna, among others.
