Himachal Govt to procure wheat at Rs. 2425 per quintal for Rabi season
A Spokesperson of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department today here said that the state government was committed to providing fair prices to farmers through a transparent and efficient procurement system. To strengthen the economy farmers the government has now decided to procure wheat at the increased Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs. 2,425 per quintal for the Rabi procurement season 2025-26.
He said that the procurement would be conducted through the Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation (HPSCSC) in designated markets across the state. To ensure a smooth process for procurement, ten procurement centres have been identified in four districts in coordination with the Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board. He said that in Kangra district the wheat would be procured in Fatehpur, Riyali, Milwan, Nagrota Bagwan, in district Sirmaur the places has been identified at Paonta Sahib, Dhaula Kuan. Apart from this in district Solan the wheat would be procured at Market Yard Nalagarh and Baddi Malpur and in district Una it would be done at Takarla and Rampur
He said that the procurement would start from 8th April, 2025 and will continue till 15th June, 2025 considering the sowing and harvesting schedule of the Rabi crop. He urged farmers to get themselves registered at hpappp.nic.in and the registration process have already been started from 8th January, 2025. He said that to ensure timely payments the government has mandated that farmers would receive their dues within two days of selling their wheat. The wheat must be clean, dry and meet the prescribed quality standards for procurement.
He further said that he procurement drive was being implemented with the joint efforts of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, HPSCSC, the Agriculture Department and the State Agricultural Marketing Board. To facilitate farmers the government has instructed officials from these departments to ensure all necessary arrangements were in place at the designated procurement centres.
He said that the farmers seeking further assistance can contact their respective District Controller of Food and Civil Supplies or the Regional Manager of HPSCSC.
