Disaster-Stricken Himachal Pradesh: Kisan Sabha Demands Justice for Affected Communities
In a powerful show of solidarity, the Himachal Pradesh Kisan Sabha held a state conference at Vikramshila Hall in Mandi on November 5, 2025. The gathering was a response to the growing crisis faced by thousands of people in the state who have lost their homes, land, and livelihoods due to natural disasters.
The conference was inaugurated by Rakesh Singha, State Secretary of Kisan Sabha, who painted a grim picture of the situation. “People have lost everything – their homes, their land, and even their loved ones,” he said. “It’s time for the government to take responsibility and provide adequate compensation and support to those affected.”
The Kisan Sabha has been at the forefront of the struggle for justice for disaster-affected communities. The organization is demanding that the Central Government amend the Forest Conservation Act to provide five bighas of land to affected people and ensure housing for those who lost their homes.
The conference heard heart-wrenching stories of struggle and resilience from affected communities. Many people shared their experiences of losing their homes and livelihoods, and the struggles they face in accessing basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare.
In a show of determination, the Kisan Sabha has called for a massive demonstration on November 26 at district headquarters and sub-divisional offices across the state. If their demands are not met, further protests will be held on January 19.
The Kisan Sabha’s demands are simple yet powerful: land-for-land, house-for-house, and support for those who have lost everything. It’s time for the government to listen to the voices of the people and take action to ensure justice and dignity for all.
“We will not be silenced,” said Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, State President of Kisan Sabha. “We will continue to fight for the rights of our people until they receive the support and compensation they deserve.”
The struggle for justice continues, and the Kisan Sabha remains committed to standing with the people of Himachal Pradesh in their time of need.
