Bilaspur Hosts Auditions to Spotlight Local Talent on Prestigious Stages
In a significant effort to promote local artists, the Department of Language and Culture organized auditions in Bilaspur to identify and nurture talent for prestigious platforms. This initiative, aligned with the state government’s policy of preserving arts and culture, aims to provide selected artists with opportunities to perform at international, national, state, and district-level fairs.
Held at the multipurpose cultural complex, the auditions saw participation from around 120 artists across the district. Performers showcased their skills in singing, instrumental music, dance, folk drama, folk tales, and traditional instruments.
A four-member judging panel evaluated the participants, including Assistant Public Relations Officer Hemant Negi, renowned musician Meena Verma, college music spokesperson Dr. Manohar Sharma, and District Language Officer Revati Saini. The panel assessed artists based on technical skill, presentation, voice quality, rhythm, and authenticity of folk art.
District Language Officer Revati Saini highlighted the overwhelming enthusiasm of artists from different parts of the district. He emphasized that the grading process would allow selected artists to represent the state at various cultural events, fostering both recognition and skill enhancement.
This initiative not only empowers local talent but also plays a crucial role in preserving and enriching the region’s rich folk heritage. The Department of Language and Culture remains committed to promoting Himachal Pradesh’s traditional arts, ensuring that talented artists receive the recognition they deserve on larger platforms.
