Sukhu Mourns Hamirpur Sailor Aditya Sharma’s Death in Hormuz Strait Tragedy under American Attack

Aditya Sharma, a young deck cadet from Himachal Pradesh, lost his life after U.S. military forces struck the commercial oil tanker MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman. He was among three Indian crew members — along with engine fitter Shivanand Chaurasiya and chief engineer Patnala Suresh — who were initially reported missing following the attack and were later confirmed dead by Indian authorities.

Sharma was serving as a trainee deck officer on the Palau-flagged vessel, which had a crew of 24, all of whom were Indian nationals. The Settebello was intercepted by U.S. Central Command (Centcom) forces about 20 nautical miles off Oman’s coast. The tanker was reportedly accused of carrying Iranian oil in violation of a U.S. blockade, prompting American aircraft to carry out a targeted strike on the ship’s engine room.

The precision strike triggered a massive explosion and fire onboard, resulting in the deaths of Sharma, Chaurasiya, and Suresh.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed deep grief over the tragic death of Aditya Sharma, a sailor from the Galore area of Hamirpur district, who lost his life following an American attack on an oil tanker in the Hormuz Strait on Wednesday.

Sharing his condolences with the bereaved family, the Chief Minister said that the untimely loss of a young life is deeply saddening and has left the entire state mourning. He assured the family that the Himachal Pradesh Government stands firmly by them during this difficult time.

The Chief Minister also directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance and support to the grieving family members.

Praying for the departed soul, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu asked the Almighty to grant eternal peace to Aditya Sharma and provide strength and courage to his family to bear this irreparable loss.
