Patwar Bhawan in Peeran has been shedding tears of misery for years

Employees risking their lives to provide services in an unsafe building

While the administration plays a crucial role in providing assistance to the public during natural disasters, the Peeran Patwar Bhawan, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Junga tehsil, has been in a dilapidated state for years. The condition of the building is such that the saying “I am embarrassed and I give advice to others” fits the administration perfectly. The situation is such that not one but three tarpaulins have been laid on the roof of the building to prevent rainwater, but despite this, rainwater drips into the office, causing the roof of the Patwar Bhawan to become dilapidated, and the revenue records kept in the office are getting damaged due to the dripping water.
Senior citizens of Peeran, including former village head Daya Ram Verma, Daulat Ram Mehta, Jabar Singh Thakur, KD Sharma, and many others, stated that the Patwar Ghar was constructed about 40 years ago, and also houses the Patwari. Over the past 6-7 years, the building’s condition has deteriorated due to rotting wood, and employees are risking their lives to serve the public in this unsafe building. Protecting the revenue records stored in the office during rain has become a significant challenge for the Patwari.
Residents stated that they have repeatedly appealed to the administration for repairs to this building, but the administration has fallen on deaf ears. They added that in rural areas, the Patwar House is considered the smallest administrative unit, providing all revenue-related services to the public. The residents of Peeran village have urged the government to repair the Patwar House before the monsoon season and, as an alternative, relocate the office to a safer building.
Rajendra Thakur, Deputy Tehsildar of Junga Tehsil, stated that an estimate for the repair of the Patwar House has been prepared and sent to the district administration. Additionally, correspondence has been made with the Rural Development Department to shift the Patwar House to the Panchayat House.
