Delay in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh four-lane project is troubling the industry and the general public : Suresh Kashyap
BJP MP Suresh Kumar Kashyap, through a notice under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha, raised the issue of the important four-lane road project in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial area, calling it a matter directly related to public interest and industrial activities. He said that this area is the lifeline of Himachal Pradesh’s industrial structure and the delay in road infrastructure here is directly affecting industry, employment and the general public.
MP Kashyap stated that the Pinjore–Baddi–Nalagarh four-lane road project was initiated in April 2022 and scheduled to be completed by September 2024. The initial approved cost of the project was ₹556 crore, which was later increased to ₹670 crore, and approximately ₹774.78 crore has been spent so far. Despite this, the project remains unfinished.
He said that currently, many areas on this route suffer from incomplete sections, potholes, uneven road surfaces, a lack of service lanes, and chaotic traffic conditions, resulting in daily traffic jams. Thousands of workers are unable to reach their work sites on time, patients and ambulances are forced to wait en route, and schoolchildren, women, and the elderly are facing hours of inconvenience. This is causing mental stress, wasted time, and financial loss to ordinary citizens.
Kashyap said that heavy rains, floods, and landslides had previously damaged the road, but even then, construction had not progressed at the expected pace. He blamed the contractor’s negligence, delays in cost approvals, and administrative laxity.
MP Suresh Kashyap demanded from the Central Government that the current actual status of the project should be made public, a phase-wise description of the remaining pending works should be given and the deadline for its completion should be made clear, so that the industrial area and the local people can get relief soon.
