Two BJP Lok Sabha election candidates of Himachal Pradesh declared

BJP released its first list for the Lok Sabha constituency, in which it declared the current MP from the Shimla parliamentary constituency Suresh Kashyap, and current Union Minister Anurag Thakur from the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency as its candidates.
Former BJP state president and MP Suresh Kashyap started his political journey as a BDC member. Kashyap’s political journey:
Started as a BDC member. He was elected MLA for the first time from Pachhad assembly constituency in the year 2012. In 2017, he again became MLA from the same constituency for the second time. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019. Bharatiya Janata Party has once again declared Suresh Kashyap as the BJP candidate from the Shimla parliamentary constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Kashyap has also served in the Air Force. MP Suresh Kashyap, born on March 23, 1971, in Papalahan in Sirmaur district, has also served in the Air Force. He holds an MPhil in Public Administration, a Post Graduate in English and Tourism, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Communications Management. He also has a B.Ed degree.
Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports
Anurag Singh Thakur is the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports. He is a fourth-time Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha/Lower House) from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. He previously served as the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs (31 May 2019 to 7 July 2021). Within Parliament, he has served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT and a member of the Public Accounts Committee. During the 16th Lok Sabha, he was appointed as the Chief Whip of the Lok Sabha, becoming the youngest person to hold the post. He also represented India in the Parliamentary Committee and Steering Committee of WTO. In 2016, he was commissioned as a regular officer in the Territorial Army in the rank of Lieutenant of 124 Sikh Regiment, making him the first serving BJP MP to join as a regular officer. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2021. He is the former national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM – the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party) and has been the only national president of the BJP to be appointed for three consecutive terms.

BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, National Vice President Sudan Singh, State in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna, Election in-charge Shrikant Sharma, Co-in-charge Sanjay Tandon congratulated both the candidates on this occasion.

Shri Thakur is an ardent sports lover and has made an immense contribution to sports as a sports administrator. He has served as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and President of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA).

In 2019, he was awarded the Sansad Ratan Award; Honored with the Champions of Change 2019 Award; and Recognized as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum and the Global Fund, Shri Thakur made their “Global Champion” in the category of Public Health.
