Five day training camp inaugurated in Kinnaur on concrete waste management
Today, the District Development Officer’s Office of Kalpa, Nichar, and Pooh Development Division inaugurated a five-day Community Empowerment Training Camp, focusing on Solid Waste Management as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. The event saw participation from forty representatives and social workers from the Kalpa, Nichar, and Pooh Development sections.
Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur, Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma, presided over the camp. He emphasized the importance of effective solid waste management to keep Kinnaur district clean and environmentally beautiful. The camp aims to equip representatives and social workers from all three development sections with proper solid waste disposal techniques.
Dr. Sharma pointed out that solid waste management is a critical issue both in India and globally, worsened by urbanization, industrialization, economic development, population growth, and improved living standards. He recommended measures such as recycling, pit filling, using waste as fertilizer, vermicomposting, and pyrolysis to manage concrete waste effectively. He urged participants to educate their communities about solid waste management to help maintain the district’s cleanliness and beauty.
Retired Indian Administrative Officer Deepak Sanan expressed his gratitude to the District Administration of Kinnaur for organizing the camp and provided detailed information on solid waste management to the attendees.
Notable social workers Somnath Sen and Ajit Kumar, among others, were also present at the event.
