The trail of Adani group -Modi saga moves from Parliament to Adani factory & stores
Indian Parliament witnessing heated debates on the boiling Adani-Modi saga now seemed to be moving from Parliament to factories, stores and outlets. As for the first time raid is being conducted in Adani outlets in Himachal Pradesh may hit the fortune of biggest conglomerate in the country. Sukhu government faced fierce criticism from opposition BJP to not act on Adani group despite loss of Rs 135 Crore was rendered to state exchequer including inform of GST, royalty and ruining the Livelihood of around 7000 truck owner and operators in two Cement plants. It was after noncompliance of Government directions to roll back production in both Cement plants acquired by Adani Cement in September 2022 and suspended its production on December 15. It was State government decision to summon the Corporate house about the levies and taxation being paid by the group to state. The disclosure of GST refund scam has been busted after raids by the Himachal Excise and Taxation Department of Sukhu Government on the premises of Adani Wilmar Company Limited, However, the documents are still being scrutinized. Last day raids were conducted at the premises of Adani Wilmar under the leadership of Joint Commissioner of the Department GD Thakur and in the initial investigation it has been found that Adani Group has paid GST on the supply of oil soap and other food items to Himachal Pradesh Food Supply Corporation and other departments. Whereas according to the laws, there is no provision for GST refund on grocery items. This amount is being told in crores. But the real figure will come out after scrutiny of all the documents. Thakur said that further action is being taken.
It is feared by the officials that this act of GST refund on behalf of this group is being done wherever the company has its bases in the country. In such a situation, all the governments should take action in this regard. Remember, seven-eight companies including Adani Group’s Agri Fresh are working in the state. Out of these, the businesses related to cement factories have been closed since last December 14. Sukhu government has shown the way to other governments by taking action on the Adani group on which the state governments were afraid to act. Also made it clear that at least the arm of the Congress governments cannot be twisted. There are allegations of the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi being with the Adani group.
Two days after the Sukhu government came to power, the Adani Group had suddenly shut down the cement factories at Barmana in Bilaspur district and Dadla in Solan district under the guise of freight charges. This put the Sukhu government in trouble. But now the Sukhu government has gathered the courage to take action against Adani, even though the exploits of his other companies have come to the fore.
Adani’s Wilmar company got work in Jairam government. During the tenure of the previous Jairam government, the State Food Supply Corporation was given the task of supplying oil-soap and other materials to the police canteens and other departments. There has been a lot of uproar in Parliament these days regarding the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adani. The relationship between Modi and Adani is well known. It can be understood that if the Food Supply Corporation had got the supply work from Adani’s companies, then at what level the work would have been done.
Adani had launched Adani Wilmar Company in the food supply all over the country and its shares also boomed, but now after Hindenburg raised Adani’s scam, these shares have come down heavily. Now there is also the new issue of GST refund. The scam is coming to the fore. According to the sources state Government now penalized the Indian biggest Corporate house for breaching mining norms including excessive and under use of allotted quota of mining to Cement plants and rendering excess Mining in some pockets of the leased out Mining sites. It is for the first time when the Government machinery and authority would enters in the Mining belts allotted to the group after 45 yrs. It has been stated by the sources that conglomerate has conveyed the Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu that he did not belong to either party and if things get settled in a proper way he is keen to invest more in Himachal like Rajasthan. Sukhu government cannot not go against the 7000 truckers union which has reliable strength in Arki and Bilaspur Assembly Constituency.
