The path to a developed India passes through a developed Himachal: Anurag Thakur

Atal ji’s vision for Himachal’s development has been carried forward by Modi ji: Anurag Singh Thakur

May 16, 2026, Himachal Pradesh/Chandigarh: Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur, today attended the first annual celebration “Niyundar” of the World Himachali Organisation in Chandigarh. Alongside Himachal Pradesh Governor Mr. Kavindra Gupta, respected Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sikander Kumar, he extended his best wishes to the organisation. Addressing the gathering, he advocated for collective efforts to uplift and promote Himachal and its culture.

Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur said, “It is a matter of joy that the World Himachali Organisation is doing commendable work by bringing together our Himachali brothers and sisters from across the world onto a single platform, and by promoting Himachali literature, civilisation, and culture. Himachal is our birthplace, Himachal is our values, Himachal is our tradition, Himachal is our identity, Himachal is our family. When we speak of Himachali heritage, I believe we must also talk about development alongside heritage — how our Himachal can be developed, what the roadmap for development should be. When we speak of a developed India, the path to a developed India passes through Himachal. If we have to make India developed by 2047, then we also have to make Himachal developed by 2047. Therefore, the vision of a developed India cannot be realised without a developed Himachal. Himachalis, whether in India or any corner of the world, are contributing in their own way to making India prosperous and powerful.”

Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur said, “Himachal is a hilly state, and our parameters and priorities for development differ from those of other states. We are enduring a particular kind of ecological imbalance. Here, we must pursue development while preserving the environment and culture. PM Modi and the BJP have always been serious about this issue. When our government was formed at the Centre in 2014, Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said that there should be separate policy planning and development for Himalayan states, and work began in that direction. Compared to before, you can see that Himalayan states have received more funds and more facilities than before, and from roads to health, education, and energy, there has been greater development in hilly states than in the past. The Modi government has carried forward Atal ji’s vision for Himachal and other hilly states.”
