Teachers Embrace Future-Ready Skills at CT and AI Workshop in Shimla

A District-Level Deliberations Workshop on Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) was successfully held on May 16, 2026, at Teresa Ball Hall A, bringing together educators from across the district to explore modern teaching approaches and emerging technologies.

The workshop aimed to build awareness among teachers about the growing importance of CT and AI in education, while also encouraging innovative teaching practices that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.

The programme saw enthusiastic participation from teachers representing several schools, including Loreto Convent, Saraswati Paradise International Public School (Sanjauli), Trinity International School (Fagu), Central School for Tibetans (Chotta Shimla), Chandernahan Meadows, and CST Shimla.

The sessions were led by a panel of expert resource persons:

  • Ms. Parul Jhingta, BCA Faculty, Rajiv Gandhi Government College (Kotshera)
  • Dr. Priyanka, Assistant Professor, Computer Applications, GDC Sanjauli
  • Ms. Nivedita Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, St. Bede’s College

Through engaging presentations and demonstrations, the speakers highlighted how computational thinking and AI can be seamlessly integrated into classroom teaching. They also introduced participants to practical tools and activities that can make learning more interactive and relevant in today’s digital age.

The workshop featured interactive sessions, group discussions and hands-on activities, allowing teachers to actively participate and exchange ideas. A key point of discussion was the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of education, and the urgent need to equip students with essential digital and analytical skills.

The event concluded with a feedback session, where participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their commitment to applying these new teaching strategies in their classrooms.

Adding a competitive and celebratory element, three teachers were recognized for their outstanding contributions during the workshop:

  • 1st Prize: Ina Sharma
  • 2nd Prize: Sunita Sharma
  • 3rd Prize: Anupama Sankhayn

The Principal congratulated the winners and also felicitated the resource persons for their valuable guidance and contribution.

Overall, the workshop proved to be an inspiring and enriching experience, equipping teachers with new perspectives and tools to better prepare students for a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.
