Shimla’s Horticulture Boost: A ₹64.90 Crore Action Plan for Farmers
In a significant move to support the livelihoods of Shimla’s residents, an action plan worth ₹64.90 crore has been approved under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for the financial year 2025–26. The plan was sanctioned during a meeting of the District Mission Committee, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
Deputy Commissioner Kashyap emphasized the importance of horticulture as the primary source of income for the people of Shimla. He stressed that the schemes run by the Horticulture Department must directly benefit farmers, ensuring that government initiatives enhance their income.
Kashyap also highlighted the need for increased focus on research and training, noting that in today’s technological era, research-based practices can lead to better yields. He urged the department to complete all pending projects within this financial year and ensure uniform implementation of schemes across all blocks, stating, “No block should be left out or overly prioritized.”
Senior officials from the Horticulture Department were present during the meeting, underscoring the collaborative effort to uplift Shimla’s horticulture sector.
