Patients are upset due to the vacant post of doctor in CHC Koti

For the past two months, the absence of a doctor at the Community Health Center, Koti, has caused significant inconvenience to patients. Patients have to travel to Junga or Shimla for treatment. The BMO has ordered a doctor from PHC Trahai to be on duty at the health center once a week. The hospital currently has a dentist.
Gram Panchayat Koti’s Pradhan Pratibha Sharma, Deputy Pradhan Balkrishna Thakur, Ward Member Diksha, former Pradhan Ramesh Sharma, Rajaram, Arvind Sharma and many others said in a statement issued on Sunday that two posts of medicine doctor are sanctioned in CHC Koti, out of which one post is lying vacant for about two years and one post is vacant for the last two months due to the doctor going on leave. They say that this is the only health centre for about seven panchayats of the area. One post of pharmacist and one post of staff nurse is lying vacant in this health centre. Due to lack of X-ray facility, patients have to go to Junga or Shimla for getting X-ray done.
Principal Pratibha Sharma said that about two years ago, on the occasion of inauguration of the new building of the college in Koti, the Chief Minister had announced provision of ten beds in CHC Koti and providing 108 National Ambulance, which has not been fulfilled till date, due to which there is a lot of disappointment among the people towards the government.
They say that on average, 50 to 60 patients visit the hospital’s outpatient department every day, but due to the lack of a doctor, they are often left disappointed. They added that in the event of a sudden incident in the area, this hospital lacks even first aid facilities. The local council has demanded that the government fill all positions in the hospital, including those of a doctor.
Block Medical Officer Mashobra Dr. Rakesh Goyal said that the doctor who was on leave will soon join duty.
