Panchayat Pradhan will not be able to do arbitrary in BPL selection from 1 April

To bring transparency in the selection of BPL families, the state government has tried to change the system in the new notification. This has been welcomed everywhere. According to the new notification, the process of preparing new BPL lists will begin from April 1 and the previous lists will be cancelled. This was told by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh during a special conversation. He said that the government was receiving a lot of complaints regarding the selection of BPL families, on which the government has taken a strict decision so that only eligible families can be included in this list.
As per the government’s instructions, interested families can submit their applications along with the required documents to the concerned Gram Panchayat from 1 to 30 April. A three-tier verification committee will be formed under the leadership of SDM by 15 April. This committee will include Panchayat Secretary, Patwari and Anganwadi workers, who will check the applications and prepare a list of eligible families.
To ensure transparency, the list prepared at the Panchayat level will be made available for public scrutiny on the notice board of the Gram Panchayats by June 15. If anyone has any objection to the list, he can register his complaint in the Gram Sabha meeting to be held in the month of July. Instructions have been given to complete the entire process by October 15, 2025, so that the list of correct and eligible families can be prepared. Orders have also been given to videograph the Gram Sabha meeting for the selection of BPL. In the new notification, the condition of four-wheeler has been removed and the monthly income of the applicant from all sources has been removed from 25 hundred and the annual income has been fixed at 50 thousand etc. Many amendments have been made.
Let us tell you that now the Panchayat Pradhan will not have any role in the selection of BPL families. Earlier, only formalities were performed in the meetings of the Gram Sabha regarding BPL selection and the favourites were selected behind the scenes.
