New Spell of Rain and Hail Likely to Hit Hills from April 16 — Farmers Urged to Stay Alert

A fresh bout of weather activity is on the horizon for the hill state, as the Meteorological Department has predicted a new Western Disturbance starting April 16. This change in weather is expected to bring rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms, breaking the ongoing dry spell.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall and hailstorm activity will begin Tuesday, with thunderstorms and lightning likely at isolated places from April 16 onward. The weather is expected to intensify on April 18 and 19, with a higher risk of hailstorms. Authorities have urged residents, particularly farmers, to take necessary precautions to minimize any potential damage.

Over the past 24 hours, the state remained dry, and temperatures fluctuated significantly. Paonta Sahib recorded the highest temperature at 35°C.

Farmers, especially those involved in apple farming and vegetable cultivation, are being advised to stay on high alert. Hailstorms during this crucial season could heavily impact crops. The state government is expected to release additional advisories as per updated IMD forecasts to help mitigate the risk.
