Millets Take Center Stage at Karsog Nalwar Fair with a Flavorful Message of Health and Tradition
In a refreshing blend of tradition and taste, the third day of the Karsog Nalwar Fair witnessed a unique awareness program dedicated to promoting the benefits of millets, also known as “fat grains.” Renowned organic farming expert and Padma Shri awardee Nekram Sharma led the initiative, highlighting the nutritional and environmental value of these ancient grains.
One of the highlights of the event was the delicious Sawa (a type of millet) pudding prepared right at the fairgrounds. With the heartfelt support of Mahila Mandal Bagh’s president Subhadra Thakur and deputy head Bandana, the pudding was served free of cost to all fairgoers, leaving both taste buds and hearts satisfied.
Nekram Sharma used the opportunity to emphasize the need to return to millet farming, urging farmers to adopt traditional organic methods over chemical-based agriculture. “Millets are not just good for health but also sustainable for our environment,” he shared passionately with the audience.
SDM Karsog, Gaurav Mahajan, also joined in, enjoying the pudding and praising the women’s initiative. His presence added encouragement and recognition to the effort.
Adding to the movement, Assistant Public Relations Officer Sanjay Saini distributed millet seeds to members of the Mahila Mandal, empowering them to take the message of millet cultivation back to their communities.
This initiative is not just about food—it’s a movement towards reviving forgotten grains, embracing sustainable farming, and celebrating community-led change.
