DC Una Inspects progress of PGI satellite center construction in Malaht

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the PGI Satellite Center in Malahat, Una, on Friday. He reviewed the progress and met with officials and representatives from the implementing agency, ‘Heights,’ to ensure timely completion of the project. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of establishing reliable systems for electricity, water, and drainage, as the plan is to commence OPD services by December this year.

So far, 33 percent of the PGI Satellite Center’s construction has been completed. The Deputy Commissioner instructed that the remaining work should be finished within the stipulated deadline. The construction of the Center’s OPD and Guest House is nearly complete, and proposals for the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) have been submitted and are awaiting approval. He also expressed satisfaction with the progress on the boundary walls and access roads of the center. The demarcation for the boundary wall has been completed, and the remaining sections will be constructed soon. Additionally, the access roads within the center are also nearing completion.

The PGI Satellite Center, a 300-bed facility, is being constructed on 35 acres of land in Malahat village, Una, at an estimated cost of ₹450 crore. Once completed, it will provide advanced healthcare services to the residents of Una, Kangra, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts, similar to those available at PGI Chandigarh.

Assistant Commissioner Una Varinder Sharma, SDM Una Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan, PGI Nodal Officer Rajiv Basi, CPM Ashwani Kaul of Heights, and Project Engineer Ashish Kumar were among those present during the inspection.
