The Indian Army has launched the “Voice of Kinnaur” Community Radio Station in Pooh, Kinnaur district, as a tribute to the people of Himachal Pradesh. This initiative, part of the Army’s outreach in high-altitude and border regions, honors the local communities’ contributions to nation-building.
The inauguration ceremony saw vibrant participation from senior officers of the Indian Army’s Surya Command, local administration, government officials, and enthusiastic residents, reflecting strong community support.
“Voice of Kinnaur,” established under Operation Sadbhavana, aims to deliver local news, promote regional culture, share educational and health-related content, and broadcast critical public interest information. The station was inaugurated by the principal of Tripeaks School, where it is based.
Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C Central Command, highlighted the station’s role in preserving cultural heritage, amplifying community voices, and ensuring access to timely information. Local leaders and residents expressed gratitude, noting the station’s potential to empower youth, women, and apple farmers by providing a platform for their concerns and achievements.
