IAS Tarun Kapoor continue to serve in Modi 3.0

Government of India’s Appointments Committee of the Cabinet today approved the extension of retired IAS officers Amit Khare and Shri Tarun Kapoor as Advisors to the Prime Minister.

Their appointment, in the rank and scale of Secretary to the Government of India, is for a period of two years starting from June 10, 2024, or until further orders.

Shri Tarun Kapoor, an IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre (1987 batch), has had a distinguished career with several key assignments in Himachal Pradesh.

Recognized for his expertise and significant contributions, Kapoor’s extension in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) reflects the government’s confidence in his abilities.

He has been a pivotal figure in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration, contributing to strategic planning and implementation of key projects.

Kapoor’s role in the PMO was first solidified during Modi’s second term. His reappointment is seen as part of a broader strategy to maintain continuity and stability in the PMO’s advisory team from Modi-2 to Modi-3.

This extension ensures that Kapoor will continue to play a crucial role in advising on policy and administrative matters, leveraging his extensive experience and understanding of the state’s dynamics.

Mr. Amit Khare, an IAS officer from the Jharkhand cadre (1985 batch), also continues in his advisory role. Khare’s experience and past roles have made him a valuable asset to the PMO, contributing to various policy decisions and administrative reforms.

The extension of both Kapoor and Khare signifies the government’s commitment to utilizing seasoned expertise to navigate complex administrative landscapes and achieve strategic governance goals.

Their continued presence in the PMO is expected to bolster the effectiveness and efficiency of the Prime Minister’s administration.
