HRTC Introduces 155 Special Buses for Diwali to Manage Holiday Rush
In anticipation of high travel demand for Diwali, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has announced the operation of 155 special buses, with online bookings already reaching capacity. These buses will be in service on October 29 and 30, with additional trips scheduled for November 2 and 3 if demand persists.
Of these, 60 special buses are scheduled to depart on October 30 from 14 depots across Himachal Pradesh to Delhi, covering popular routes with both ordinary and Volvo buses. Key routes include seven buses from Delhi to Palampur, one to Jogindernagar, one to Pathankot, seven to Baijnath, eight (including one Volvo) to Dharamshala, five to Nagarota, eight (including one Volvo) to Hamirpur, five to Dehra, five to Una, two to Nalagarh, two to Kullu (Volvo), two to Dharampur, and five ordinary buses to Sarkaghat. In total, 54 ordinary and six Volvo buses will run between Delhi and various Himachali destinations.
Additionally, 25 special buses are scheduled to depart from Baddi to districts across Himachal on October 29 and 30, covering routes to Mandi, Palampur, Hamirpur, Dehra, Bilaspur, and Una. These services aim to alleviate the travel demand from the industrial hub of Baddi to other parts of the state.
To further accommodate the holiday rush, HRTC will run 70 special buses from Chandigarh on October 29 and 30. On October 29, 29 buses will cover routes to Chamba, Dharamshala, Baijnath, Palampur, Nagrota Bagwan, Dehra, Hamirpur, Una, Kullu, Mandi, Sundernagar, Sarkaghat, and Pathankot. An additional 41 buses will serve these routes the next day, with extra services to Bilaspur.
This extensive transport arrangement is set to ease travel for passengers across Himachal Pradesh during the Diwali season, ensuring efficient and timely service amid the festive rush.
