Even after 60 days, people in Peeran did not get cooking gas

Large families are cooking food using wood – forests are under pressure for fuel

Despite 60 days having passed, people in Piran village of Junga tehsil did not receive cooking gas on Monday. It should be noted that cooking gas is distributed in this area through the Hill Top Gas Agency, Koti. They distribute cooking gas to the people of Trahai, Khil Ki Ser, Sheeli, and Dhali Bagda in Piran Panchayat on the 5th of every month, and to the people of Piran, Nalta Batola, Devthi, and Nariga on the 20th of every month. In Piran, people waited for the gas vehicle until late afternoon and then returned home disappointed.
It’s worth noting that on March 20th, many LPG consumers had run out of gas for 45 days, forcing most families to cook by burning wood, while government employees faced significant difficulties due to the shortage of LPG. It should be noted that most households have a maximum LPG cylinder life of 20 days.
People say that since the Indian government has issued a decree for gas booking after 45 days, gas agencies should also prepare a chart for LPG distribution based on 45 days, otherwise people will not be able to get LPG before 60 days. LPG is distributed in Peeran once a month on the 20th through the gas agency Koti. People have demanded from the government that the gas booking period should be kept at 30 days as before so that the serious problem of LPG faced by the people in rural areas can be resolved. People also say that on one hand the government has increased the price of LPG and on the other hand cylinders are not available when needed, meaning people are facing a double blow.
On the other hand, Food and Supplies Inspector Deepak Datyal said that the supply has not arrived, due to which people have not been able to get cooking gas. Once the gas supply arrives, cooking gas will be made available to consumers.
