Anurag Thakur Reviews Development Projects, Calls for Accelerated Progress
MP Anurag Thakur chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) meeting where he assessed the progress of Central Government-sponsored development projects. Emphasizing timely execution, he issued strict instructions to expedite pending tasks.
Thakur directed that projects approved under the MP Development Fund but not initiated by March 31, 2023, should have their funds refunded. He also set a February 28, 2025, deadline for officials to meet all pending requirements. Stressing the importance of impactful implementation, he urged authorities to go beyond achieving targets and work toward visible, positive changes at the grassroots level before the next review meeting. Officials were asked to gather field feedback and suggest improvements for the schemes under execution.
The meeting included detailed discussions on the progress of various Central Government and other developmental schemes, with officials providing updates on their implementation status.
Tackling Illegal Mining and Infrastructure Issues
Expressing concern over rampant illegal mining in Una district, Thakur called for strengthening monitoring systems using modern technologies and community participation. He highlighted the damage caused to rural roads and revenue losses due to mining activities and suggested seeking approval for a special police force to address the issue.
The MP also reviewed key achievements, including the approval of 2,646 houses under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme (Rural) for Una district. He announced two new Kendriya Vidyalayas for Gagret and Chintpurni assembly areas and urged a permanent solution to flooding issues in railway underpasses during the monsoon.
Thakur expressed dissatisfaction over delays in designing the sewage treatment plant for the PGI Satellite Center and asked for the issue to be resolved promptly. He also emphasized future-oriented planning for construction projects and improving road safety to reduce accidents.
Focus on Rural Development and Women’s Empowerment
The MP stressed the need to converge rural development schemes and repair solid waste management systems in panchayats. He directed the Rural Development Training Center (RCT) to share livelihood training information and adopt strategic measures to combat malnutrition in the district. He also urged the preparation of an action plan under the Central Government’s Millionaire Didi program, aimed at empowering women.
Highlighting infrastructure investments, Thakur noted that ₹243 crore is being spent on 27 projects under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana in the district. He urged officials to ensure high-quality work and prioritize public safety during road construction.
Valuable Suggestions and Commitments
During the meeting, Una MLA Satpal Satti, former minister Virendra Kanwar, District Council President Neelam Kumari, and former Chintpurni MLA Balveer Chaudhary, along with other non-government members, provided valuable inputs for developmental initiatives.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal assured the MP that all instructions would be followed and development works would be completed within the stipulated timelines. The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar, and representatives from various departments.
This review underscores the commitment to fast-track development in Una while addressing critical issues like illegal mining, infrastructure delays, and rural empowerment.
