A Beacon in the Wilderness: One Man’s Mission to Feed the Hungry
In the remote outskirts of Shimla, far from the city’s bustle, lies the Atal Super Speciality Hospital in Chamayana. It’s a place of isolation—no shops, no markets, no nearby villages. For patients and their families, even basic necessities like food, water, or a simple cup of tea become daily struggles. With no dhabas, hotels, or shelters in sight, many are forced to endure their hardships on an empty stomach.
But in this deserted landscape, a ray of humanity shines brightly. Sarabjit Singh Bobby, lovingly known as “Belha Sardar,” has turned this place of need into a sanctuary of sustenance. Day and night, he tirelessly arranges food for the hungry—patients, attendants, and weary travelers alike. What was once a scene of scarcity has now transformed. Under the open sky, meals are shared like a community picnic, and as night falls, Bobby sets up lights and creates an anchoring presence, weaving an atmosphere of genuine care and service.
The scenes are deeply moving. In feeding those in need, Bobby has not only addressed hunger but also restored warmth and dignity. He has, once again, shown the world what it means to serve selflessly.
Across this vast land, through sun and storm, rain and snow, in times of flood, disease, pandemic, and despair, Bobby has been a constant “free anchor.” He seeks out the hungry and the needy, offering them not just hot bread, but hope. Only he and the Divine know the hardships he quietly endures to keep this mission alive.
