70 quintals of Ramdana is kept safe in Dharech temple to deal with disasters like famine

To deal with situations like famine, about 70 quintal Ramdana or Bathu grain is still kept safe in storage in the temple of Jaiswari Mata Dharech. Recently, the workers of Rihad village took out this Ramdana from the storage of the temple, dried it and again kept 130 quintals of it back in the temple so that it can be useful to the people in emergency situations like famine. Let us tell you that Ramdana is such a grain which is neither attacked by insects nor animals harm it. This grain does not spoil for centuries.
Harichand Sharma, a member of the Bajir family of Jaiswari Mata, told about the history of Ramdana or Bathu that a rich family of Mandi Saraj region started settling in Chikhar village of the then Keonthal princely state. This family invited Junga, the deity worshipped by this region, to their home. After waiting for a long time, when the Kardars did not bring the deity to their home, they decided to establish their own temple of the deity. An idol was also made for it, but this family did not know the method of worshipping it. They went to the Dharech temple of Mata and asked for a priest. On which the Kardars made a boy the priest and sent him to Chikhar. After a few years, a terrible fire broke out in the Karoli forest and the entire forest turned into ashes. The priest and this family sowed the seeds of Ramdana in this entire forest. There was a bumper crop of Ramdana which was cleared and kept. Thereafter, the local people apologized to Jaivi, the head of the Saraji family, and this deity was also named Jaivi. All the people of this village respectfully gave one bundle of Ramdana to the priest and sent him back to Dharech. It is said that this Bathu has been present in this temple since ages. It has been distributed many times during famine.
Ayurveda expert Dr. Vishwabandhu Joshi said that fiber, iron and vitamin C are found in abundance in Ramdana, which is very healthy for humans.
