Committed to Develop UHF Nauni into a Global Centre of Learning and Innovation: Dr Baweja
Dr Harminder Singh Baweja formally assumed charge as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, on Saturday, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the premier agricultural institution. He was given a warm and enthusiastic welcome by students, faculty members and staff of the university as he stepped into his new role.
On Monday morning, Dr Baweja paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Chancellor of the University, Shri Kavinder Gupta, and expressed his gratitude for the trust reposed in him. During the meeting, he shared his vision for the university and discussed its current functioning and future direction. He assured the Chancellor of the university’s full commitment to strengthening academic excellence, research innovation and extension services, while ensuring a supportive and enriching learning environment for students.
Following this, the Vice-Chancellor held detailed discussions with the university’s statutory officers and Heads of Departments, reviewing ongoing activities and future plans. He emphasized that sustained efforts would be made to further enhance teaching, research and outreach programmes, enabling UHF Nauni to achieve greater academic heights and improve its national and international standing.
Dr Baweja also met representatives of various associations, including the University Teachers Association and Non-Teaching and Technical Associations. He patiently listened to their concerns and assured them that a clear and inclusive roadmap would be prepared to address issues faced by employees. Interacting with students, he reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the campus into a world-class centre of learning and research.
Expressing heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome, Dr Baweja acknowledged the support extended by the university community and office bearers of different employee associations. He stressed that collective effort and teamwork are essential for the overall growth of the institution and urged all stakeholders to work together. He said the university must continue to serve the farming community effectively and maintain its leadership role in advancing the horticulture and forestry sectors of the country.
