Tabla Summer Camp 2026 to Blend Rhythm, Nature and Tradition in Dharech Valley

Continuing its tradition of celebrating Indian classical music in harmony with nature, the Tabla Summer Camp 2026 will be held from June 3 to June 7 at The Gurukul, Dharech, nestled in the serene and scenic valley of Kasupanti district. Like previous years, the camp is expected to draw tabla enthusiasts from across the country, turning the quiet Himalayan valley into a vibrant hub of rhythm and creativity.

More than just a training programme, the camp is designed as a holistic musical experience that brings together disciplined learning, natural surroundings and spiritual reflection. The focus will not only be on technical mastery of the tabla but also on preparing students for stage performance, accompaniment skills and creative musical expression.

The five-day camp will be conducted under the guidance of internationally acclaimed tabla maestro and gold medalist Vikram Gandharva, whose teaching combines classical rigor with a deep respect for tradition. As the camp unfolds, the sounds of tabla are expected to echo through the Dharech valley, creating an atmosphere of musical immersion.

Sharing details about the event, Vikram Gandharva said this camp marks the seventh music conference of its kind in Himachal Pradesh. Over the years, The Gurukul has successfully hosted six summer and winter tabla camps, attracting participants not only from various states of India but also from abroad. This year’s camp will be further enriched by the presence of renowned sitarist Batuknath Mishra from Varanasi, who will attend as the chief guest and bless and guide the students.

Participants this year include a diverse group of talented learners and tabla lovers from across the country. Among them are Krunal Hindia, Preeti Hindia and Kriday Hindia from Gujarat; Divya Jyoti from Assam; Jagmohan Singh Bisht, Mukesh Bisht and Nishant Bharti from Uttarakhand; Satyavati Acharya from Karnataka; Krishna Thakur, Kabir, Garv Patial and Puneet from Chandigarh. From Shimla, Jatin, Divyanshu, Sarang, Sarthak, Rupal, Ritika and Nikhil will take part, while Santosh Kumar, Aman and Subodh from Banaras; Pratip Chatterjee from Bangalore; and Nivedh Kumar and Ramesh from Hyderabad, along with tabla enthusiasts from different parts of Himachal Pradesh, will also attend.

Founded in 2021 by Vikram Gandharva, The Gurukul is more than a music institution—it represents a revival of the ancient Indian Gurukul tradition, where learning takes place in close bond with the guru, rooted in discipline, respect and dedication. The institution continues to uphold the sanctity of the Guru–Shishya parampara, blending it with contemporary outreach.

Vikram Gandharva, who holds an MA and MPhil in Music with a gold medal and is currently pursuing a PhD, has also emerged as a strong voice for Indian classical music among the youth. With a social media following of over 85,000, he is playing an important role in making classical traditions accessible and appealing to a new generation.

As music, learning and nature come together once again, the Tabla Summer Camp 2026 promises to be a memorable experience for both participants and listeners—one that celebrates rhythm, tradition and artistic growth in perfect harmony.
