Himachal Eyes Industrial Growth with ₹234 Crore Push for New Manufacturing Parks
In a significant step towards boosting industrial development and attracting fresh investment, the Himachal Pradesh Government has submitted two ambitious projects worth ₹234 crore to the Centre under the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA) scheme. The proposals focus on creating modern plug-and-play industrial parks in Solan and Una districts, aimed at strengthening the state’s manufacturing base and creating new employment opportunities.
The State Industries Department has proposed a ₹154-crore industrial park at Majholi in Nalagarh, Solan district. Spread across nearly 150 acres, the facility is expected to give a major boost to industrial activity in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) belt, one of North India’s most prominent manufacturing regions. With ready-to-use infrastructure, the park is designed to help industries set up operations quickly and efficiently.
Another proposal seeks Central approval for an ₹80-crore industrial park at Beetan Industrial Area near Tahliwal in Una district. Planned over approximately 75 acres, the project is strategically located close to the upcoming Bulk Drug Park at Haroli. Officials believe the facility will serve as a strong support ecosystem for pharmaceutical and allied industries, encouraging further industrial expansion in the region.
The BHAVYA scheme, launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), aims to develop world-class industrial ecosystems equipped with modern infrastructure, seamless connectivity, digital governance, sustainability measures and worker-friendly facilities. Eligible projects can receive Central assistance of up to ₹1 crore per acre.
The Union Government had invited proposals for the first phase of 20 industrial parks under the scheme, with July 31, 2026, set as the submission deadline. Projects selected under BHAVYA will be implemented jointly by the State Government and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC).
Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said the government is focused on creating strong industrial infrastructure that promotes sustainable economic growth, attracts quality investments and opens up large-scale employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Principal Secretary (Industries) M. Sudha said the department is also exploring additional land parcels across Himachal Pradesh for future industrial development. She expressed confidence that such projects would improve the ease of doing business, encourage investment and play a key role in driving long-term economic growth and job creation in the state.
