HPV vaccination session held at Peeran SchoolInformation given to girl students about prevention of cervical cancer

An HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination session was organized at the Government Senior Secondary School, Piran, in the Junga tehsil, courtesy of the Health Department, Trahai. Ten eligible girls aged 14 to 15 years received the HPV vaccine.
Addressing the students, Dr. Divya Verma, Medical Officer at the Primary Health Center, Trahai, explained that the primary objective of the HPV vaccination campaign is to raise awareness among adolescent girls and reduce future cervical cancer cases. The department is continuously organizing such vaccination and awareness programs in various schools so that more adolescent girls can benefit.
He explained that human papillomavirus (HPV), a common viral infection, is considered the leading cause of cervical cancer in women. He added that vaccination during adolescence is considered more effective and is an important step in protecting women’s health in the future.
Rani Thakur, Community Health Officer at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, WB, addressed the students during the vaccination drive, explaining in detail the HPV infection, its potential side effects, preventive measures, and the benefits of vaccination. She explained that timely vaccination can reduce the risk of many serious diseases. Staff nurse Sapna also contributed to the camp.
Principal Rakesh Verma expressed his gratitude to the Health Department for raising awareness about HPV vaccination in the school, especially among female students. He said that such awareness and vaccination programs are crucial for protecting the health of students.
