Dhali Panchayat, formed for the first time after independence, witnessed a festive atmosphere on polling day
Voting in the newly formed Gram Panchayat, Dhali, which emerged for the first time since independence, was marked by a festive atmosphere among voters on May 28th. Four polling booths were set up at the Government High School, Dhali, while another booth was located in Thund Village. The five wards, comprising Dhali Banda, Thund, Shilli, Anji, and Chalo, have a total of 589 voters. From Thursday morning, people, dressed in their finery, arrived at the school campus to cast their votes, where they cast their ballots with ease. Despite the low voter turnout in Dhali Panchayat, the enthusiasm was palpable. Administrative and police surveillance remained strict, resulting in no reports of any untoward incidents. In this episode, while Meera Devi, who was ill for some time, came from Shilli and cast her vote, 97-year-old Shaunki Ram played an active role in this festival of democracy. In such a situation, among the voters, young Turks were seen in great numbers in voting. Tamanna, Urvashi and Komal told that they are studying in Solan and have come especially to vote. They said that for the development of the area, voting and selection of the right candidate is essential.
