95-year-old Krishnanand, 94-year-old Balakram Nirmohi and Sundar Singh cast their votes
Voters were enthusiastic on Tuesday for the first phase of elections in 11 panchayats of the Mashobra block. Crowds of voters were seen at polling booths from early morning. 95-year-old Krishna Nand Sharma of Tikkar village in Junga tehsil walked three kilometers to cast his vote at the Purana Junga polling booth. Similarly, 92-year-old Nirma Ram of Bhont Panchayat walked nearly six kilometers from his village, Gathdu, to cast his vote in Shahal ward. 94-year-old Balak Ram Nirmohi of Peeran Panchayat cast his vote after traveling nearly six kilometers to cast his vote at the Deothi booth. 94-year-old Sunder Singh Sharma, also from Deothi, walked two kilometers to exercise his franchise in Peeran. 45-year-old disabled Ram Gopal Verma cast his vote at the Peeran booth with the aid of a crutch.
Enthusiasm towards voting was seen among senior citizens, which has been a great source of inspiration especially for new voters.
