Shimla Student Makes Bollywood Debut in Kapil Sharma–Neetu Kapoor starred ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’

A young talent from Shimla has made his way into Bollywood, marking a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh. Kavid Machhan, a student of Stokes Memorial School, Shimla, has featured in the recently released Hindi film Daadi Ki Shaadi, which stars popular comedian Kapil Sharma and veteran actress Neetu Kapoor.

Hailing from Rohru in Shimla district, Kavid comes from a humble background. His father, Vikas Machhan, is an apple grower, while his mother, Priya Darshika, is a homemaker. Despite his young age, Kavid’s appearance in a big-banner Bollywood film has caught the attention of audiences and added to the film’s appeal as a family entertainer.

Adding to the local pride, a significant portion of Daadi Ki Shaadi was shot in Shimla and surrounding areas. The film beautifully captures the charm of the hill town, offering scenic glimpses of Himachal Pradesh on the silver screen and strengthening the region’s connection with the project.

Another artist from the state, Nishant Kaul, has also appeared in the film, further highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s growing footprint in the entertainment industry.

Directed by Ashish R. Mohan, Daadi Ki Shaadi is a light-hearted family comedy-drama that revolves around relationships, emotions and humour. The film has drawn additional attention as it marks the acting debut of Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Neetu Kapoor. Actors Sadia Khateeb and Sarath Kumar are also part of the ensemble cast.

The film’s trailer and promotional events generated strong buzz online ahead of its theatrical release earlier this month. Marketed as a wholesome entertainer filled with comedy and emotional moments, Daadi Ki Shaadi has not only entertained audiences but also brought recognition and pride to Shimla with the debut of young talent like Kavid Machhan.
