HPV vaccination awareness camps organised at Noha Wublu and Janedghat
Awareness camps about the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) were organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Junga, at Noha Wublu in the Balogh Panchayat and at the Government Senior Secondary School, Janedghat. In these camps, information was provided specifically to adolescent girls aged 14 and 15 about the importance of HPV vaccination.
Dr. Manoj Verma, Medical Incharge of Civil Hospital Junga, said that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women, due to which every year around 80 thousand women in India become victims of cervical cancer. This cancer occurs at the mouth of the uterus of women due to Human Papilloma Virus. To prevent this serious disease, the Government of India has started HPV vaccination campaign across the country on 28 February, which will continue till 24 May. Under this campaign, HPV vaccine is being administered to girls who have completed 14 years and below 15 years of age. He informed that HPV vaccines will be administered at Civil Hospital Junga on 11th and 12th April.
At the camps, Dr. Sonika Junga, a gynecologist, urged all parents to ensure their daughters turn 14 have the HPV vaccine, to protect them from cervical cancer. She explained that some people are spreading misinformation about the HPV vaccine, which is completely false. The HPV vaccine is completely safe and has no side effects. The government is providing the vaccine free of charge, while private clinics typically cost around ten thousand rupees.
Dr. Priyanka stated that all vaccination-related data will be recorded on the U-WIN digital portal, requiring a certificate confirming the daughter’s 14th birthday. She explained that this vaccination is completely voluntary, but parental consent is mandatory.
In the camp, CHO Kumari, NDK Counselor Praveen Kumar also gave information about HPV vaccination.
