Palampur’s Tulip Garden Blooms Again, Welcoming Visitors with Science and Splendor

Palampur’s CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT) has once again opened its stunning Tulip Garden to the public, with SDM Dr. O.P. Yadav inaugurating the season on February 10, 2026.

This year, the garden is alive with 50,000 tulip bulbs across six vibrant varieties, a dazzling showcase of how science and floriculture can come together under Himalayan conditions. Speaking at the event, Director Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav highlighted that the garden is more than just a visual delight—it’s a demonstration of science-led horticulture, blending research, technology, farmer participation, and public engagement.

The garden has quickly become a magnet for visitors. Last year, over one lakh tourists from across India flocked to see the breathtaking blooms, making it a hub for scientific tourism. This season promises to be no different, with travelers eager to stroll through rows of tulips set against the majestic backdrop of the Dhauladhar ranges.

Beyond Palampur, IHBT’s tulip expertise is spreading nationwide. The institute supplied 22,000 bulbs to the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for public displays and another 3,000 bulbs to the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department for developing a garden at Saurab Van Vihar, Palampur—showcasing both collaboration and growing demand for quality planting material.

For locals, tourists, and nature lovers alike, the Tulip Garden is more than a seasonal attraction—it’s a celebration of beauty, science, and community, turning Palampur into a vibrant canvas of color each spring.
