A new drinking water scheme worth Rs 6 crore is ready for Rajgarh city and will be inaugurated soon : Siddharth Sharma
The construction of the Pairvi Khadad Lift Drinking Water Scheme, which has been under construction for the city of Rajgarh for the past ten years, has finally been completed, and the department will soon commission the scheme. Ajay Verma, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Vibhag Division, Rajgarh, confirmed this. He stated that this scheme will provide a permanent solution to Rajgarh city’s drinking water problem for many years to come.
It should be noted that the foundation stone for this project was laid in 2016 by former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to address the serious drinking water problem in Rajgarh city. Subsequently, the project’s construction stalled when the BJP government came to power. Meanwhile, forest land hindered the project’s construction, delaying approval from the Forest Ministry. Furthermore, the project took nearly ten years to complete.
Assistant Engineer, JSV, Rajgarh, Siddharth Sharma, stated that an amount of ₹6.03 crore has been spent on the construction of this scheme under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation-2 (AMRUT). This will provide clean drinking water to the city’s approximately 4,500 residents. He explained that under this scheme, water has been lifted from the Parivi Khad in two phases, with a 6-inch water level. In the first phase, water will be lifted from the source using a 50-HP pump and stored in a storage tank with a capacity of 150,000 liters. In the second phase, water will be lifted further using two 240-HP pumps. The water will then be stored in a 300,000-liter tank built adjacent to the Rajgarh rest house, ensuring regular and adequate water supply in the Nagar Panchayat area.
He explained that the project suffered significant damage during the 2025 natural disaster, disrupting work. Despite this, the department worked hard to complete the project quickly. Electricity Board officials were instrumental in ensuring the timely installation of the transformers.
Siddharth Sharma stated that the Kanda Nala drinking water scheme currently supplies water to Rajgarh city. This scheme provides only two to two and a half inches of water, which is insufficient for the city. He added that the drinking water scheme constructed from the Pairvi Khad will provide six inches of water, while the Kandanala scheme will be available to the department as an alternative.
He stated that modern technology has been utilized in the project. Rapid sand filters have been installed to maintain water quality, ensuring pure and safe drinking water is available to citizens.
