Tabo Turns into an Ice Bowl as Himachal Embraces Winter’s Chill
Winter has officially arrived in Himachal Pradesh, and Tabo village in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti is feeling its full force. The mercury dipped to a bone-chilling minus 5.5°C, making it the coldest night recorded in the state this season.
Over the past 24 hours, a cold wave has swept across Himachal, pushing minimum temperatures 2°C to 4°C below normal. While daytime temperatures remained pleasant — ranging from 7°C to 30°C — the nights told a different story, with many regions waking up to frosty mornings and foggy skies.
Despite the chill, the weather remained mostly dry, with bright sunshine lighting up many towns. Light snowfall was reported in the higher reaches of Kinnaur, while Sundernagar and Bilaspur saw dense and shallow fog respectively.
Here’s how some popular spots fared:
- Shimla: 8.4°C
- Dharamshala: 10.4°C
- Manali: 5.9°C
- Kalpa: 0.2°C
- Una: 31.2°C — the warmest in the state
- Tabo: -2.2°C — the coldest daytime temperature
Meteorological officials predict dry weather until November 12, with a slight rise in temperatures — 2°C to 3°C for minimums and up to 4°C for maximums.
As Himachal transitions deeper into winter, locals and tourists alike are bundling up and soaking in the crisp mountain air, with Tabo standing as a frosty sentinel at the heart of the season’s chill.
