CPI(M) State Committee of Himachal organized a convention on workers’ and farmers
The CPI(M) State Committee of Himachal Pradesh organized a state-level convention at Kalibari Hall in Shimla to ensure the success of the nationwide workers’ and farmers’ protests scheduled for November 26, 2025, and January 19, 2026. Approximately two hundred party leaders attended the convention. The CPI(M) has announced its full support for these workers’ and farmers’ protests and has called upon all party workers in the state to make these protests a success.
The convention was conducted by State Secretary Sanjay Chauhan. The proposal for making these protests successful and intensifying the struggle against the Central Government’s neo-liberal policies was presented by Dr. Onkar Shad. The convention was addressed by party leaders Rakesh Singha, Prem Gautam, Vijendra Mehra, Kushal Bhardwaj, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, Bhupendra Singh, Geeta Ram, Rajendra Thakur, Mohit Verma, Joginder Kumar, Ashok Katoch, and Narendra Virudh. The speakers stated that the corporate-communal policies of the Modi-led NDA government at the Centre have widened the gap between the rich and the poor. This government is completely standing with the capitalists. The failed attempt to impose the black farm laws on farmers in 2020 and the imposition of the four anti-worker Labour Codes have made it clear that the Modi government is ready to go to any lengths to increase the profits of the capitalists. These neo-liberal policies have made the poor poorer and the rich richer. These policies have led to an increase in farmers’ suicides. The social security of workers has been destroyed. The four Labour Codes will push workers into bonded labour and slavery. The issues of Minimum Support Price for farmers and debt relief remain unresolved. In Himachal Pradesh, the issues of farmers’ eviction, compensation, and other concerns remain unresolved. The exploitation of workers is continuously increasing. Their real wages are being cut. Instead of regular employment, massive exploitation of workers and employees is taking place through appointments in categories such as scheme workers, outsourced, contract, part-time, temporary, casual, multi-task, Mitra scheme, trainee, etc. They are being paid a monthly salary of only four thousand to twelve thousand rupees. The working people are suffering from the problems of inflation and unemployment. The hardships of the working people are continuously increasing. The top five capitalists in the country have taken control of twenty percent of the nation’s wealth. The wealth of half the country’s population, seventy crore people, is only a mere three percent of the total GDP. The nexus of capitalists, politicians, and bureaucracy is sucking the blood of the people in the country and the state. The Modi government is resorting to communal policies to divert public attention from its pro-rich policies. This is posing a threat to the unity and integrity of the country. There is a need for the people to build broad unity and front against this.
