Lumen Sequere – To Follow the Light Highlights Day Two of St. Edward’s Centenary Celebrations
As part of its centenary celebrations, St. Edward’s School, Shimla hosted “Lumen Sequere – To Follow the Light”, a solemn and inspiring evening held in the historic school hall. The Chief Guest, His Lordship Bishop Ignatius L. Mascarenhas, inaugurated the evening by planting a sapling and unveiling the statue of Blessed Edmund Rice, a moving tribute that embodies hope, service, and the enduring Edwardian spirit. The Bishop was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Anil Sequeira and other distinguished dignitaries.
The cultural programme commenced with an introduction by a student who paid heartfelt tribute to Bishop Edward Kenealy and the Irish Christian Brothers, whose vision and perseverance a century ago laid the foundation for this institution of faith and excellence.
The Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Chief Guest and dignitaries marked the continuation of the Edwardian legacy — a flame of faith, knowledge, and service that has illuminated countless lives over the decades.
The audience was then treated to a captivating stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and an expressive dance presentation titled “Lumen”, both celebrating the triumph of light over darkness and the resilience of the human spirit.
The Awards Ceremony honoured students who excelled in the CBSE Class X Board Examinations (2024–2025), recognising their dedication, discipline, and achievement.
In his address, Bishop Ignatius L. Mascarenhas lauded the school’s century-long contribution to holistic education and moral formation, urging students to be torchbearers of truth, compassion, and service in the world beyond.
The evening concluded with Flag Hoisting, the School Anthem, cake cutting and the Ceremony of Light, symbolising unity, renewal and Edwardian pride — a fitting tribute to a century of light that continues to guide generations.
