Sirmaur’s Rhythms Captivate Jaipur at the National Lokrang Festival

The Pink City of Jaipur is alive with the vibrant energy of the 28th National Lokrang Festival, and the heart of Himachal Pradesh is beating strong at its core. Artists from Aasra Sanstha have taken the stage, bringing the rich, colorful culture of Sirmaur district to a spellbound audience at Jawahar Kala Kendra.

From October 7th to 11th, the air in Jaipur has been filled with the ancient beats and melodies of Sirmaur. The artists are presenting a captivating showcase of their heritage, including:

· The dynamic Thoda dance
· The soulful songs of Rihalti Gee and Munjra Gee
· The graceful Parat dance and Rasa dance from the Hati region

Under the expert direction of Padmashree Vidyanand Saraik and world record holder Dr. Jogendra Habibi, these performances are more than just a show—they are a journey into a timeless tradition. The people of Jaipur have not just watched; they’ve connected, responding with thunderous applause and heartfelt encouragement.

The Magic Behind the Music

The stage came alive with the powerful vocals of folk singers Gopal Habibi, Sunil Chauhan, and Bimla Chauhan. The rhythm was set by Sandeep’s dhol, Narendra’s Karnal, and the sweet, haunting notes of Baldev Chauhan’s flute.

And then there was the dance! Talented artists like Jogindra Habibi, Amichand, Chaman, Naveen, Dinesh, Saroj, Anuja, Aarti, and Preeti delivered powerful performances that left an indelible mark among artists from all across India.

A Tapestry of National Culture

The Lokrang Festival is a beautiful mosaic of India’s diversity. While Sirmauri dances held their own, the stage also saw the fiery Chari dance of Rajasthan, the elegant Rouf from Jammu & Kashmir, the lively Bihu of Assam, and the energetic Bhangra of Punjab, among many others.

Through it all, Aasra Sanstha ensured that the unique melodies and folk rhythms of Sirmaur resonated through the Jaipur evenings, earning a standing ovation.

As Dr. Jogendra Habibi shared, this is all part of Aasra’s greater mission: to take Sirmauri folk traditions to the world and to inspire the younger generation to embrace and carry forward their ancient cultural legacy.

The colors of Sirmaur have truly blossomed in Jaipur, creating memories that will last long after the final curtain call.
