Several parts of Himachal to receive rain and snow from 5th to 7th October
Just as the state was drying out from a long monsoon, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Shimla has announced a new spell of active weather. From Sunday, October 5th, through Tuesday, October 7th, several parts of Himachal Pradesh are set to receive significant rainfall and snowfall.
According to the forecast issued on Saturday, a few areas could experience heavy to very heavy downpours and snow. The weather isn’t just bringing precipitation; residents should also be prepared for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at many places.
This sudden change is due to active Western disturbances, which have prompted the IMD to issue yellow and orange alerts for the region.
The report specifies that the districts of Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, Kangra, and Una should brace for heavy rain. Meanwhile, the high-altitude landscapes of Lahaul-Spiti are likely to be blanketed in fresh snowfall. The capital, Shimla, along with Sirmaur and Solan districts, can also expect a mix of heavy rain and snow, particularly on October 7th.
