Disaster awareness program was organized in GSSS Balg
In memory of the devastating earthquake that occurred in Kangra district in the year 1905, a disaster awareness program was organized in Government Senior Secondary School, Balg. Tributes were paid to those who died in the devastating earthquake. On this occasion, students were told about the ways to avoid natural disasters like earthquake, landslide, fire and flood through a mock drill. On this occasion, students were given practical information about adopting safety measures along with keeping patience during a disaster.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Principal Ramesh Chand Sharma said that on 4 April 1905, about 20 thousand people lost their lives in the terrible earthquake that struck Kangra district. Apart from this, more than one lakh houses were damaged.
Incharge Disaster Management Committee Sushma Sankhyan and Satyadev Shastri gave detailed information to the students about dealing with natural disasters. Sushma Sankhyan said that every person should be mentally prepared to deal with a disaster and in such times, one should serve and help the affected people by using the available resources and communication facilities.
In this mock drill, all the teachers, non-teaching and non-teaching staff, Scouts and Guides, Monal Eco Club, NSS and all the students participated enthusiastically.
