Mock drill organized for disaster awareness in GSSS Chiyog.
A mock drill was organized on the occasion of disaster awareness in Government Senior Secondary School Chiyog. Through this mock drill, students from sixth to tenth standard were told the ways to avoid natural disasters like earthquake, landslide, fire and flood. On this occasion, students were given practical information about keeping patience during disasters and adopting safety measures.
Addressing the students on this occasion, Principal Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that on 4 April 1905, about 20 thousand people were killed in the terrible earthquake in Kangra district. Apart from this, more than one lakh houses were damaged. He said that this was the biggest disaster in the state, which has completed 120 years. Paying his tribute to the people who lost their lives in this terrible natural disaster, he said that every person should be mentally prepared to deal with the disaster and in such times, by using the available means and communication facilities, the affected people should be served and helped. He said that through mock drills, measures to deal with disasters are being made aware to the general public and we all should be ready to fight natural disasters. On this occasion, all the teachers and non-teaching staff of the school were also present.
