Himachal Kisan Sabha Organizes Convention Against Land Eviction in Dharamshala

The Dharamshala Block unit of Himachal Kisan Sabha held a convention at Ambedkar Bhavan, Khaniyara, to oppose land evictions. The event was attended by Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, State President of Himachal Kisan Sabha, along with the leadership of Kangra district and Dharamshala block.

Dr. Tanwar emphasized that ensuring land for the livelihood of common people is the Sabha’s top priority. He stated that every family should be provided up to 10 kanals of land for survival and that small encroachers occupying up to 10 kanals should not face eviction.

He further mentioned that the previous government had filed a review petition in the Himachal High Court, which had provided relief to those occupying up to 10 kanals of land. However, the Supreme Court recently issued fresh orders for evictions, sparking widespread concern.

In response, the Kisan Sabha plans to mobilize hundreds of members from Kangra for a massive protest in Shimla in March. Additionally, a memorandum will be submitted to the government through the Kangra District Magistrate on February 11.

District General Secretary Satpal Singh urged members to intensify preparations for the February membership drive and the upcoming protest. He called for increasing the Sabha’s membership numbers to thousands.
