Training Program on Lilium Bulb Production by CSIR-IHBT

One day “Training Program on Lilium Bulb Production” for farmers of Gohar, Bagsiad, Thunag and Janjehli, District Mandi was organized by CSIR-IHBT on 10th September 2022 under CSIR-Floriculture Mission. This program was done in collaboration with Gondhala cut-flower cluster funded under MSME SFURTI scheme in Gondhala village of district Lahaul Spiti. 15 farmers from different blocks of Mandi district participated in the training programme. The trainees were exposed to various aspects of Lilium bulb production including scaling, micro bulb production, cold storage, grading and packaging of Lilium. Lahaul is known for producing off-season lilium flowers in the country. The cluster has also started production of Lilium bulbs to reduce imports from other countries. The institute has expanded Lilium cultivation for the first time in various districts of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh State where farmers are earning good income.
