Inter-Ministerial Central Team visits rain affected Himachal
Himachal Pradesh is facing huge loss & damage during the current Monsoon 2022 due to heavy rains, flash floods, cloudburst and landslides. The states has already incurred losses to the tune of approx. 2000 Crores. 278 human lives have lost, 169 houses have been fully damaged, 825 houses have been partially damaged, 587 animals have lost the lives. In view of such gravity of the losses the State Governmet requested Ministry of Home Affairs to send the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) at the earliest.
On the request of Himachal government, MHA has deputed an IMCT from 28th to 30th August
to visit Himachal Pradesh or on the spot assessment of losses & damages. The team consist
of one team leader and 5 other members from various Ministries of Government of India.A meeting under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, R D Dhiman for debriefing session with both theteams. The meeting was attended by the Secretaries & HoDs of PWD, JSV, Electricity Board, Rural Development, Urban Development, Horticulture, Agriculture, Education Mr Onkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary (Revenue) mentioned that the losses & damages are being assessed in the field by Deputy Commissioners and the Departments
which may increase as still more that 20 days of monsoon are left. Chief Secretary requested the centre team to recommend special assistance from NDRF against the interim memorandum submitted for loss & damages as the final memorandum will be shared after monsoon
